The Consultation for the Carer
Dementia is progressive and a person with dementia will experience a change in the way they perceive their environment and those around them. As their memory and other aspects of brain functioning change, they may find it more difficult to continue their usual daily activities. Their pursuit for happiness and self-fulfilment remains; however, the change in their mental state may change the way they behave and function.
The relationship between the person with dementia and their carer may change, especially if they are living together. Additionally, every person with dementia is unique and will experience their own changes over time because of their own personal life experiences.
The consultation will focus on a personalised approach on how to help their loved ones with dementia feel content, happy and fulfilled by identifying the difficult issues within the relationship and finding solutions. We also explore the range of emotions experienced by the carer to help them understand their feelings and behaviour.
